Flushing Bay Shoreline Cleanup Event

Volunteers joined the FMCP Environmental Stewardship Team this past Saturday at Flushing Bay for National Clean Beaches Week in partnership with Brady from the Natural Resources Division of NYC Parks, the Nature Adventure Guides of NYC Parks, and Billion Oyster Project! Over 66 bags of litter, reeds, and invasive plants was removed from the promenade and beach. The 26 volunteers in attendance helped to clean and beautify a large section of a heavily used area in the park. The crucial wetlands habitat used by shorebirds, turtles, horseshoe crabs, and more has been made safer for the creatures from all the plastics and litter removed. This event was a success thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who showed up to support FMCP and NYC for Clean Beaches Week!
