World Wetlands Day
/On Sunday February 6, 2022, the Environmental Stewardship Team celebrated World Wetlands Day at our nationally designated and protected freshwater wetland, the Willow Lake Preserve. Located at the southern end of FMCP, Willow Lake is 47.6 acres and is home to numerous species, including migratory birds and fish. At the preserve, visitors can easily spot Great Blue Herons, various species of woodpeckers, sparrows, and more.
Volunteers came together to remove about 5 garbage bags of trash from along the Pat Dolan Trail, remove the broken pallets and other tripping hazards along the trail, and close a large desire line. Thank you to those who came out! Everyone had a great time learning about the benefits of a wetlands like this one to society, the local area, and all the creatures that inhabit it.
