City Parks Foundation's annual Family Adventure Race will be held at Flushing Meadows Park on Saturday, July 27.
Parent-child duos take part in the timed race, which is free of charge and requires basic exercise, sports skills and teamwork. The course typically consists of 12-14 different activity stations including javelin throw, jump rope, putting, hurdles, and a mini climbing wall.
The teams receive a map and traverse the park to find each activity, and both competitors perform the exercise or task at hand before advancing to the next station.
Upon the completion of all activities, teams sprint to the finish line!
Three races consisting of up to 50 teams are held based on the below age ranges:
9AM: 7-8 years old
10AM: 9-10 years old
11AM: 11-13 years old
Races are approximately 45 minutes. The top 3 winners in each bracket receive prizes. For more information, contact sports@cityparksfoundation.org
