December 4 is World Wildlife Conservation Day!
We celebrate World Wildlife Conservation Day to raise awareness about endangered flora and fauna. NYC Parks staff are working throughout the city to safeguard a variety of species by monitoring animal populations to mitigate threats and managing habitats to protect the natural areas where they live and breed.

Join the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Stewardship Team for a virtual presentation exploring the history of World Wildlife Conservation Day on Sunday, December 3rd. You will learn about the conservation stories of several key species in NYC, including the Monarch Butterfly, American Elm and Peregrine Falcon.
We will take a look at the work and goals of the Queens Zoo, located on the west side of our very own Flushing Meadows Corona Park! The park is also home to one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the city, Willow Lake. Freshwater wetlands provide crucial ecosystem services, including water purification, flood control, and habitat for diverse plant and animal species.
We hope to see you there! Please visit the below link to attend the presentation on Sunday, December 3rd at 11:00am.
